British Car Auctions (BCA) has opened a new Battery Repair Centre at its Doncaster site – the first of its kind to serve the remarketing sector. The facility – managed by BCA Fleet Solutions – offers a wide range of battery repairs for electric vehicles and hybrids entering the remarketing process, when the manufacturer warranty has expired or become invalidated.

Services are offered across all makes and models, include diagnosis, insulation testing, module repair and replacement, casing repairs, drive motor replacements, cellular balancing, DC charger and inverter repairs, green parts supply where available, and high-voltage component replacement.

Repairs are carried out to OEM standards and provide a comprehensive and cost-effective solution for BCA’s customers, ensuring EVs and hybrids can be assessed, repaired and then offered for sale promptly and in the best possible condition.

BCA additionally carries out on-site battery repairs at the Renault Import Centre in Portbury, supporting Renault UK with traction battery maintenance facilities.

BCA has consistently enhanced its service offering to meet the growing needs of the EV sector, launching its EV battery report service in late 2024 in partnership with AVILOO, the global leader in this space. Batteries in cars offered for sale are graded from A to E, resulting in significantly higher sale conversion rates, improved average values and a shorter time to sale for both passenger cars and electric LCVs.

Alongside this, BCA’s specialist EV/Hybrid Assured Report includes testing the charging capability of vehicles, the condition of the charge port and the availability of charging cables, ensuring trade buyers have all the detail they need to make an informed purchasing decision.

EVs have been the strongest-performing sector at auction for many months in terms of demand and price performance. BCA averages more than 1,000 EV sales every week, with online sales staged daily, including weekends. Top sellers by volume include the Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model Y, Jaguar I-PACE, MINI Electric, Kia e-Niro and Nissan Leaf, across a robust buying demographic that sees consistent sales across every age group.
